1. Credit Cards:
Generally, during sales Flipkart and Amazon provide extra discount via credit cards, but for some specific banks' cards. It's important to have as many credit cards ready for the sales. Mostly the discount is provided for leading banks' cards which include Axis Bank, SBI, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank. Most of the times the discount is provided for one of these cards.
2. Understanding the deals:
The discount using cards has certain minimum amount, so your order has to reach the minimum amount to be eligible for discount. It doesn't mean that you have to purchase a single item equivalent or higher to minimum amount but the single order.
I've seen that the discount is usually provided 10% however, it increases with order value. Let's say the maximum discount is capped to INR 1500, so in this case, you will get 10% discount on maximum order value of INR 15000, if your order exceeds the amount, you will pay rest amount in full. There are other offers for high amount orders, i.e. extra INR 1250 off using the same card on orders above INR 30,000 and extra INR 4000 off on orders above INR 80,000.
Let's say all the above offers are available. Below is the break up of discount amount you will get on certain amount orders:-
Order Value - INR 81,000
The discount amount will be - INR 1500 via ICICI Credit Card + 1250 for orders above 30,000 + 4000 for orders above 80,000 = INR 6750 will be total discount applicable on the order value of INR 81,000.
Above is just an example. The actual discount might vary as per the available offers.
3. Deals on specific categories:
The card discount will be applicable on all categories except some certain products mentioned in terms and conditions. However there can also be some offers for some specific categories.
Now, there's an offer on storage devices providing 10% extra discount on prepaid payments apart from 10% card discount.
Let's say you wanna purchase a hard disk worth INR 4600 and the ICICI Card discount is applicable for orders above INR 5000. Below is how you should proceed:
Add hard disk to your cart and add any other product in your cart that makes the order above INR 5000 because this way you will get more discount.
Order Value - INR 5000
The discount amount will be - 10% off using ICICI Card will be 500 + 10% off using prepaid method on storage devices will be INR 460 = Total INR 960 will be the discount amount.
Here it's important to understand that the 10% off for storage devices will be applicable on storage device's amount only, hence you received INR 460 discount, not INR 500. You also received INR 500 discount by making your order value above INR 5000.
So it's always important to properly understand the deals so that you can avail maximum discounts.
4. Super Coins on Flipkart and Coupons on Amazon & Flipkart:
There are also some extra discount offers available for specific categories using Super Coins on Flipkart. Also, make sure to check for available coupons on product details page.
5. Third Party Cashback Websites:
All the before mentioned methods are usually what we use but there is an another way to avail even more discount by using third party websites. It takes time but it certainly works.
